  • Mathematicians find the formula for a hit film sequel (The Observer) – The research, which will be published in the Journal of Marketing this month, examined data from all 101 movie sequels released in North American theatres between 1998 and 2006 and a matched subsample of stand-alone films with similar characteristics. According to the formula, upcoming sequel The Twilight Saga: New Moon should be expected to return $34m more for the producers in its US run than a comparable vampire/ teen romance movie with the same characteristics that is not a sequel.
  • Fan-Made Replicas of Science Fiction's Favorite Land Vehicles (io9) – Bat-autoja, Akira-prätkä, Mad Max -rasseja, KITT, DeLorean jne.
  • Fight Clubista on 10 vuotta, blu-ray tulossa Jenkeissä (NY Times) – Not only has “Fight Club” performed exceptionally well on DVD — it has sold more than six million copies on DVD and video, and is being issued in a 10th anniversary Blu-ray edition on Nov. 17 — but it has also become a kind of cultural mother lode.
  • Charlie Brooker arvioi The Execution of Gary Glitter -dokudraaman – It's illegal to laugh at this, see; it's not a comedy show, but "an intelligent and thought-provoking examination of the issue" which "confronts viewers with the possible consequences of capital punishment in the UK". There's going to be an online debate afterwards and everything, which should help clear up all our thoughts about the death penalty.
